Fall Makeup Look Inspiration

Wow time flies! We are already in November!  And I am so excited I finally got to do a makeup look for you guys. I felt really inspired to do a makeup look especially since fall is here!
How did I find the inspiration for this look you maybe wondering?  I shall fill you in. ;)
It all started with the Nordstrom Nsale.  This top that I'm wearing in the picture is actually from the sale.  I loved the color so I had to purchase it.  Then a couple weeks past and I was in search for a dark lip.  When I used to work for MAC cosmetics I remembered I  always loved how  Viva Glam III lipstick looked on me.  I made a MAC run to get the lipstick and while I was there I picked out the PERFECT lip liner to go with it MAC's Prolong Wear lip liner in Be Spoken For. Ugh it's the best combination ever! A few weeks past and I was ready for a new palette.  I kept seeing the Modern Renaissance Palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills in my news feed so I ended up purchasing it too.

I used Love Letter from the ABH Modern renaissance palette all over my lid and antique bronze on the crease to create a smokey effect. I really like the change it gave my everyday look.  These colors compliment every skin tone! Make sure to try them you won't regret it! :)

Thomas And Friends Cupcakes

If any of you know me and follow me on Snapchat (MariluSegura)  you will know that my 3 year old son is obsessed with Thomas and Friends.  It's the cutest thing ever.  And of course as his loving mamma I feed into his obsession.  It brings me joy to know he wants to collect all the engines.

My son kept asking me for Thomas and Friends cupcakes for his birthday.  And I could not let him down so I decided to make his very own Thomas and Friends cupcakes for his school birthday party.  I am so glad that I decided to make them myself than have them store bought.  We had the best time making them and he had a blast helping me out.

Most of you know I'm a total artist 100% It's my passion, it's my calling.  I love to create.  It's in me and everything around me is my inspiration.  So making this for me was truly fun and for someone who is not so artistically inclined it can be done and look great.  I must say I am so proud of these cupcakes as any mamma would.  They are my art.

I really want to share with you guys exactly what I used and the steps I did to make these delicious treats!

First of all I started prepping the cupcake toppers.  I bought primary colored fondant at Michael's black and white as well.  I started my rolling out the fondant  and cutting it with the cookie cutters for Thomas, Percy, and James.  I let them sit overnight to set and dry.  You can add a little bit of white fondant to the blue if you want a more truer color for Thomas since his engine is more of a lighter blue.

Second I started kneading some of the white fondant and and added a little bit of black food coloring to it to get that gray color.  Then I used a smaller circle cookie cutter shape to make the actual face of the engine.  I started to stick the gray faces to the blue, green, and red circles by painting the back of the engine's face with water ( i used a paint brush) and positioning it right on top of the particular colored circle.

Third I took my black fondant and added the top for it's head.  I made a T shaped top and for the bottom I mainly cut out a regular square.  All of these were made free hand.

Fourth I started placing the EYES!  I used candy eyes from Michaels.  I also drew out each one of their eyebrows with edible black marker also available at Michaels.  Here is where I really paid attention to the shape of the brow of each engine because that's their unique look that distinguishes them apart.

Fifth now I was ready to make the nose, cheeks, and smile.  I used a random tool in my kitchen to do this because I didn't have the proper tool to sculpt the face. I ended up using the end of a meat thermometer.  It was exactly what I needed since the tip was pointy but round at the same time.

The Toppers Are complete so I set those aside and I start baking the cupcakes!  I used non fade cupcake liners in colored balloons.  For the  I use Betty Crocker chocolate cake mix and I top them with store bought chocolate icing.  I actually pipped the frosting to make it look more professional and the real deal.! I simply stuffed the icing in a piping bag and went at it.  It was so easy and looked beautiful!

I wanted to get fun so I added sprinkles on top to give a more colorful contrast.  And alas the toppers went on top and it was magnificent!  They were so cute and everyone loved them!  The kids in Manny's class loved them and gobbled them up!!!

If your little one is Thomas and Friends obsessed you got to make their day by making these Thomas and Friends cupcakes!  They are a hit and it will be precious memories to last a life time!

I hope you guys like them as much as I do!  Let me know if you try this out!

Me As A Bride Again

How lovely are these pictures!?  Thanks to Judy Nunez Photography based out of Charleston.  I never get tired of looking at them because they are just so stunning.  While I went to visit Charleston to do makeup for Charleston Fashion Week I decided to do a anniversary photo shoot.  The location was at Boone Hall Plantation and downtown Charleston.  I can not wait to show you the rest of the pictures.

The dress was perfection.  It was lent to me by Jodi's bridals in Charleston.  I knew I wanted to wear long sleeves and they had just gotten this dress as a new arrival.  It was the first one I tried on and I fell in LOVE!

I know I haven't blogged in forever and I apologize for that.  I actually feel inspired to blog more and do more videos.  Sometimes I can't help that life happens and I get tied up but I know I can always come on here and just pour my heart to you guys, it's so therapeutic for me!

And I'm not sure who all follows my blog or even reads this, or who actually accidentally stumbled upon this, but thank you for reading and thanks for letting me share with you my life, my thoughts, my suggestions, my story.  You all mean so much to me!

Marilu

Adult Braces Update (Braces Removal)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  Oh my goodness I didn't realize how much I missed blogging until I started typing! :D  You know my blog will always be my baby! This is where I can pour out my heart and thank you to all of you who listen/read! :)

If you haven't noticed....I GOT MY BRACES REMOVED! (insert happy dance) I think the best thing about not having braces is hands down flossing.  Boy I sure don't miss flossing with braces!

I want to take this opportunity to thank you guys for 8k views and counting for my "Braces Update" video on YouTube.  Never did I imagine it would get that many views.  Yet alone have all these wonderful professionals such as Dentists reach out to me on my blog and write me such positive and encouraging words! It truly means so much to me to hear from you and my followers! I'm so happy I can be a positive voice in the people who struggle and have struggled with achieving that dream of a beautiful smile.  Being an adult and having to take care of your teeth is not all that easy when it wasn't done in childhood.

I also want to share with you guys a new video I made on my braces removal.  In it I show you pictures of my dental clinic and my orthodontist. I include a close up of me with braces.  I update you on the removal of my braces process and how I've had to maintain my beautiful smile! I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!

And again thank you all so much for watching my videos, reading my blog, giving me thumbs up, subscribing to my changel, and writing me comments! I see you and I appreciate you guys more than you will ever know!

The Hottest Tote under $50

It's Pumpkin Patch time! I'm super excited to get festive with all the fun Fall activities.  I tried getting a cute family picture but my toddler just won't sit still.  He wants to run and explore so you get a nice picture of me instead. ;)

I just had to share with you this great handbag find.  I recently purchased this tote on Nordstrom.  Now it's not just an ordinary tote.  It's REVERSIBLE!!! And the best thing about it is that it comes in different color combinations and it's under $50!!!  Yes, you read right.

This tote is so ideal for a mommy on the go like me, a student, a professional, and really just anyone who is looking for a cute handbag!  The reversible option allows me to combine it with any outfit and it's like having two handbags in one.

I'm totally obsessed with this handbag.  It is reversible to black and  it comes with an attachable wristlet.  I've gotten endless compliments on it and I actually want to get another color.  Which one should I go with.?  I have included the link to shop directly! -->Reversible Faux Leather Tote

Happy Shopping and You're Welcome!!! :D

My Current Drugstore Favorites!

I'm all about convenience especially when you're a mom.  I recently ran out of my foundation and I soo wanted to avoid the crowded malls and Sephora in this city.  I figured I would give drugstore makeup a try.

My toddler is OBSESSED w Target.  It makes him perfectly content strolling up and down the aisles.  And if that makes him happy that works for me because everyone knows Target is the jam! As I got to the beauty department I couldn't help but scope out all the good stuff.

There are 4 items I've tried and I absolutely love!  I have incorporated them into my daily makeup routine and they are fabulous because you can't beat the price.  All prices are from Target.  Prices may vary depending which store you are at.

I love how my skin looks! I've even gotten so many compliments since I've been wearing these products!
$7.99
Maybelline Master Prime By FaceStudio
I hate using my favorite MAC Prep and Prime on a daily basis when I'm out and about doing errands.  Master Prime by Maybelline is the perfect daily primer alternative.  It's silky smooth and the best application is with your hands to really fill in fine lines and pores.  You can see it instantly blur out any imperfections and once the foundation goes on top you can be sure it's a flawless finish.

$11.99
Loreal Infalliable Pro-Matte
OMG RAVing about this one.  Where has this foundation been all my life!?  Or was I living in a cave? haha No, but really I found out about this foundation from a client.  She was a model walking on a runway show.  She wanted me to use this foundation on her.  I always try to make my models happy and after all I wanted to see for myself how this foundation worked.  Can I just say BEAUTIFUL!  Super flawless with a demi matte finish.  In other words your skin won't be looking super dry.  It's ideal for combination to oily skin however if you have dry skin this will not dry you out.  It also is 24hr wear and it does live up to it's claim! This baby stays put all day!

The next day I went and bought myself a tube!  Love, Love, Love! I've heard great things about the matching powder as well.  It's a beautiful foundation which leaves my skin flawless.  I highly recommend it.  It photographs beautifully and I love the tube packaging!

$7.99
Maybelline Master Conceal
This concealer is super fab.  It gives great coverage all while having a smooth consistency.  It gives such a perfect highlight.  Definitely a must try!
$6.99

NYX Eyebrow Gel
This is just genius.  So many of my clients have asked me about a product that is a gel but won't dry out.  Most of the dip brow gels do end up drying out and some of the reason can be because of packaging.  What I love about this particular product is that it comes in a tube.  You can squeeze the desired amount and work from there all while the product is sealed tightly in the tube.  The colors are great the only tip I have for this is don't draw your brow on but instead fill it in for a soft look because dip brow when not used correctly can look very harsh.

Wether you're on a budget or just need to get these products out of convenience I hope this gives you an insight as to what to look for next time you go makeup shopping at the drugstore. And if you happen to try these products I recommended, I want to hear your feedback!  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
